U - Con HUSKer Update

Those cheats are headed to the Final Four and after they trounce Michigan State they'll be in line for an *Championship win... or will this scandal even matter.

(from The Hartford Courant)
UConn, like all Division I universities, has a compliance system, but the NCAA will determine if monitoring/enforcement was followed, if there is a commitment to compliance and whether there is proper rules education. The university generally has three full-time employees working in the compliance office, but now has two because of an opening. "You're looking at the athletic director, the head coaches, the central administration of the university," said Oklahoma law Professor David Swank, former chairman of the NCAA Infractions Committee. "And the question is, did they provide the appropriate control over the athletic department or over the particular sport when you're talking about a head coach?"

Until the NCAA gets through digging into the matters, it's hard to speculate on penalties, which run the gamut from postseason bans to loss of scholarships to recruiting limitations. UConn likely will not lose any victories, since Miles never played a game.

So I guess they don't get punished this year, but shouldn't somebody get thrown under a bus. If they win the championship, I'll know that they cheated... If we attack A-rod and everyone else, taint their careers and achievements forever, then why not the UConn Huskies.

Can't we at least burn that stupid mascot?
