Just a note:
Japan continued to not take steroids and break its hip like an old man as they pounded South Korea 14-2 in a game that was called after 7 innings thanks to the WBC's Mercy Rule. 2009 American League Cy Young winner Daisuke Matsuzaka went four innings, giving up 2 runs, probably because he got bored being awesome.
I'm a big fan of the WBC because it's fun to create a new way to express national pride and patriotism without needlessly invading places. But maybe, just maybe, we aren't ready for a World Baseball Classic if we need a Mercy Rule. I mean, if you can't drum up enough guys who can throw a ball and swing a bat, maybe this just isn't the World Classic for you. I mean, the U.S. wouldn't bother to send a group of misfits to the soccer World Cup?
Aww, crap.
